Starting a New Business…

Oldie but goodie!

In the last few months I have been reading a lot about starting a business. Writing a business plan. Believing in myself and accomplishing something.

In the last month my sister and I became business partners and we are starting up a dream.

I’ve learned a lot in the last few days, mostly I’ve learned to trust God and to just take a leap of faith.

I would like to share five things with you if you are also wanting to do build a business for yourself.

1. Surround yourself with people that believe in you. This has to be the most important tip in life. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in you. I could not have done this if I didn’t have my husband, my sister (who decided to also invest in this dream), my parents, my co-workers (Karen, April, Bruce, Wendy, Richard, Robin W.,Jennifer T.) you all have been extremely important to me in the start of this dream. Thank you!

2. Just do it! The time will never be perfect. We will never have enough cash to start up. We will never have enough time to invest. Save enough to get your feet off the ground and begin. Create a strong plan and begin small, but dream big though!

3. Have a great idea. To create a new business you must have an idea. One of the things I’ve noticed is that a good idea usually comes from a need. Our products were born from the absence of a product that would fulfill our needs in the classroom. So think: What is essential in my life? Find a need, meet a need!

4. Invest with your heart. For something to grow it needs nourishment. You must believe in the products. If you are doing something just because it may bring you some cash you are wrong. In order to grow you must have a passion for your products.

5. Belive in yourself. When I first started I had no resources. All I had was an idea. I wanted someone to grab me under their wings and help me soar. That did not happen. I had to do my research. I had to spend many hours emailing companies and waiting by the phone for their replies. That did not stop me in believing I could complete my idea.

There are plenty of resources available. Invest in yourself, invest in your ideas.

I hope these tips will bring you closer to achieving your dreams.
May you be blessed and empowered today!
