Looking to the Past as a Way to Pursue a Greater Future

Analyzing your thoughts through your writing.

One way to know yourself is to dig deeper from within and search for the best part of yourself.

This is an activity I did a long time ago. It helped me visualize myself from within.

When I was in college a professor once asked me to fill out a fable and through this little fable I learned a lot about myself.

Today I would like for you not to read ahead but truly just use your creativity and imagination and fill out this little fable. Let it be as long as you want, let your imagination, creativity take over. Dig within yourself and let the best in you come out.

FABLE:

Once there was a young girl/boy walking alone in the woods and he/she met_________________ (fill out here who she met). The ____________ (person she met) said: “________________________”(insert dialog).
Then the boy/girl answered: “___”
Then the _______ (creature met) said “_______(reply)”.

Suddenly (something interrupted their conversation) what was it?________________

Then one of them said something:_____________

And the other answered: ____________

Now finish this fable as best as possible…_____________________

Now write a moral for this fable:

Now let’s analyze your fable…

You will either have written about yourself or someone that you would like to become… Your answers should be somewhat a reflection of your own thoughts. Analyze the fable and see what you can learn about yourself.

Are you a boy or a girl?

How do you feel if you found yourself alone in the woods? Are you scared of end up alone?

The person you met is that person going to help you? Is that person caring? This person will either bring the best or worst in you… Pay attention to this person…

Are you going through hard times? Financially speaking? What are the problems you are enduring right now?

Are you going through any relationship problems? Define yes or no?

When you finish the fable and give a moral this is a resemblance of your own life, are you hopeful for the future? Are you lost?

Through writing we share our deepest secrets, hopes, fears. Go over your little fable and define your life. See what you can learn about yourself through the thoughts you express.

Writing can be used as a healing tool. Through the written expression we can pour out our emotions and we can move forward.

Now what???

From Past to Future

Sometimes all that is holding us back from a future which is complete is our own fears.

I, like everyone else am full of hopes and dreams for the future and many times I allow my fears to keep me away from achieving my own goals.

Sometimes all we have to do is let go and trust.

By letting go we should just stop trying to change the circumstances. We should just work as hard as we can within the circumstances presented to us at the moment; knowing that the best is yet to come.

We must trust that the future will be bright and the deepest desires of our heart will be fulfilled if their intents are good.

I can’t speak for anyone else but me but I can look back in my past and see how far I have come and how much I have conquered and how much better life is today than it was yesterday.

With that in mind I look for the past to see that once not too long ago I hoped for a better future and that better future has arrived.
I am not yet where I want to be, but my hopes and dreams can live on because I am not done, yet!

My friends, look at what you can still do, to make this world a better place.

It is time to realize that you are enough!

It is time to realize that you are capable!
It is time to continue to move forward!

I have created a pdf for you to help visualize your potential and those things that are hindering you from achieving your goals. Hopefully, you will use this tool to help you see how much is ahead of you.

Write down your fears.

Write down your accomplishments

Write down your goals

Write down the steps to help you achieve those goals

Here is the form: “Sophia James Tools

I hope that this simple tool can be a reminder of the great accomplishments that are heading your way!
