CODE & GO ROBOT MOUSE

Code & Go Robot Mouse managed to totally captivate the attention of my 6 and 2 years old. The concept is very simple, follow the instructions and make a maze then code the mouse to navigate the maze and reach the cheese.

What’s amazing about this toy is the fact that Code & Go Robot Mouse managed to break down coding to such simple levels that my 6 years old was able to correctly code and arrive at the cheese on the first attempt.

After the first attempt the children spent easily two hours creating various mazes and challenges for the mouse to traverse. That fact alone merits some praise because you very rarely can captivate a 6 years old for that long.

The maze pieces snap onto each other very easily and allows you to create a large square for the mouse or tracks for the mouse to follow. There are also arches for the mouse to travel under and walls to block the mouse in just like a real maze.

The mouse itself has very easy to follow buttons to code or program the mouse. It takes 3 AAA batteries to operate the mouse and so far the battery life has lasted many days. The buttons on the back of the mouse are color coded and directly correspond to the colors on that instructions. Additionally the Code & Go Robot Mouse comes with maze instructions which the children can follow and create. To teach the concept of coding to the children Code & Go Mouse comes with little cards containing an color coded arrow which correspond to the buttons on the back of the mouse. You simply lay down the cards and the children press the corresponding keys on the back of the mouse. When you are done you press the green GO button and the mouse follows the instructions.

I was amazed when after one simple explanation my 6 years old figured out the concept. More important than having a toy was learning the idea of coding a machine. I found this toy to be a priceless addition to our family education and entertainment.

As an educator I believe this is the perfect addition to every PK-3 classroom as well. Educators if you are planning to create an engaging learning center for the classroom consider this toy as an addition to it. It will help your students create a concept of coding as well as critical thinking.
As a former 5th grade teacher I have taught coding before and I know if my students had been exposed to coding earlier it would have made their coding experience easier.
The cost for the Code & Go Robot Mouse is effective and the results/engagement is sure to be a hit!

I love how the Code & Go Robot Mouse comes with cards to help kids create mazes but it is not limited to the cards or the maze. My kids enjoyed creating their own routes for the mouse on the hardwood floor. The critical thinking skills that they earned will definitely help them with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) skills that they will need to accomplish great things in life!
