Working Together To Get The Job Done

Getting your kids to play together

I received a tin box of Lincoln Logs 100 Year Anniversary Tin Edition at a conference in exchange for a honest review.
All thoughts on this post are honestly my own.

Lincoln Logs!

Waking up on a Saturday morning before our big move overseas. The kids were feeling cranky and they are pretty much done with the whole moving thing.
What can we do that will strengthen  our family and bring us closer together?
What better than play?

Playing together

Playing is relaxing, playing allow us to be creative, playing bring us closer together, playing is just fun!
I sat down on the floor with the kids and we picked out the toys.
On that Saturday morning we chose to  build a house with our Lincoln Logs using our Dinotrux to help.
I am a rule follower, so I started following the directions to build the perfect house. The hubby and the kids were the builders.
We sat on the floor talking, laughing, collaborating, it was so much fun that I forgot to take pictures of the process.
We lived in the moment, hubby and I relieved memories of our own childhood.
The dinotrux delivered the logs to us, Sophie and James were the builders and they ensured the pieces went were they were supposed to.

So, what lesson did I learned from playing with Lincoln Logs?
Family time is precious. Enjoy it!
Play together. Through play kids learn important skills. While playing we discussed this important learning skills such as:
     – Log sizes.
     – Colors.
     – Patterns (we had to create patterns on each side to create the windows and doors).
     – We made mistakes and had to go back and fix it- that teaches grit and a growth mindset.
     – We had to think critically in order to find the best way to move the logs from one place to the other using the dinotrux.
     – We worked together, we communicated, we solved problems.
– Through playing with our kids on a Saturday morning when our stress levels were pretty high, we were able to relax and to live the moment.
Everyone has their own stressors in life, but the best way to destress is to live in the moment.
It is to enjoy the moment.
So, I want to thank Lincoln Logs for providing our family with some great educational, fun, family time!
I hope you will pick up some Lincoln Logs and share with us some of your own family fun.

Fact of the day:
Lincoln Logs were an idea by John Lloyd Wright after he watched workers build one of his father’s designs. You can read more about at Toy Hall of Fame at: http://www.toyhalloffame.org/toys/lincoln-logs

P.S: That was not the last time our kids played with Lincoln Logs and it won’t be the last. They absolutely love building with them and we love spending time as a family…
Here is a picture of another day of fun with Lincoln Logs.
With love,
Raquel
